Trip Overview

Day 1: Arrival in Colombia

¡Bienvenidos a Colombia! We hope you are excited to spend two weeks in the digital nomad capital of Latin America.

Colombia's digital nomad scene is booming because of its incredible year-round weather, low cost of living, rich culture, and fast internet. Medellin is the "city of the eternal spring" in a lush valley surrounded by beautiful green mountains.

You will be picked up at the airport by a private driver and taken to your apartment building in the best area of Medellin.

Take a quick tour of the El Poblado neighborhood where you'll be staying, and go out for dinner with your group of less than twenty remote workers.

That evening, take an included city tour on a Chiva party bus to see Medellin at night, including Provenza, Avenida El Poblado, and the Golden Mile.

Day 2: Neighborhood Tour

Medellin was named the Wall Street Journal's "Most Innovative City," and the neighborhood of El Poblado was listed in New York Times’ Top Places to Visit in 2023.

Your apartment building is in a residential area of El Poblado, just outside the bustling nightlife scene of Provenza. Go with your Digital Nomad Trips Community Manager for an orientation walk to locate essentials like the pharmacy, supermarket, coffee shops, bank, etc.

On Sundays, Avenida Poblado shuts down and becomes open for cyclists and pedestrians. So walk down and enjoy the farmers market, where you can taste arepas, empanadas, and fresh produce.

Day 3: Co-working Begins

Your co-working space is conveniently located on the bottom floor of your apartment building. There is a built-in café, and if you need extra privacy for calls, you can ride the elevator back up to the private workspace in your apartment.

Walk with your new digital nomad friends to one of El Poblado's many cafés and connect to the internet as you enjoy some incredible Colombian coffee.

If you prefer to work in an office outside the apartment building, you can purchase a hot desk membership at WeWork, just a fifteen-minute walk away.

Remember that Colombia is on Eastern Time during North American winter. During Daylight Savings Time, Colombia is on Central Time. Hopefully, this will be an easy transition for remote workers who adhere to hours in the United States.

Day 5: Humpday Dinners

During your stay in Medellin, you’ll be busy working, living as a local in Medellin, and exploring the city in the evenings.

Every Wednesday evening, plan to get together with your group for an included dinner at one of the best restaurants in Medellin. Your Community Manager will organize your group meals and leave you nothing to worry about.

Try traditional Colombian dishes like bandeja paisa, mondongo, and mazamorra.

Life as a remote worker in a foreign country can be lonely, but with Digital Nomad Trips, we go above and beyond to keep you feeling connected to our community.

Day 8: Guatepé Day Trip

Today is Saturday, and we'll take our first excursion two hours outside of Medellin to one of Colombia's top destinations--Guatapé.

Climb 700 stairs to the top of Piedra del Peñol, at your own pace, for sweeping views of this enchanted lakeside town.

See the colorful zocalos, or hand-painted portraits, that depict the history of Guatapé. Have your camera ready for dozens of photo ops. Sip coffee in the plaza, and browse the boutique shops as you wander the streets.

Round out your day with an included boat trip to soak in the views of Laguna Guatapé.

Day 9: Sunday Funday

We’ve left Sunday open for you to explore Medellín and embark on independent adventures. You’ll have plenty of friends to join you, so you’ll never feel alone in this vibrant city.

Head to Parque Arví, an extensive nature preserve accessible by cable car from Medellín. Enjoy beautiful views, hiking trails, a picnic, or row a boat on the lake in Piedras Blancas.

Other great Sunday activities in Medellín include Ciclovia on Avenida Poblado, the Jardin Botanico Botanical Garden, museums like Museo de Arte Moderno, Museo de Antioquia, or Parque Explora, South America’s largest aquarium. Don’t forget to visit the Pueblito Paisa, a park with a replica of a traditional small town in the center of Medellin.

Day 10-14: Co-working & Optional Adventures

There is no shortage of things to do in Medellin during the week, and we hope you fall into a rhythm of everyday life. Your apartment building has an excellent gym with free weights, machines, and cardio equipment. Plenty of yoga and group fitness studios are nearby for anyone wanting to keep up with their routine.

If you save up some PTO for your time in Colombia, take a day off here to enjoy the city, go on day trips, or even take a cheap flight to another part of Colombia for a quick adventure.

Day 15: Comuna 13 Tour

Take an included tour of the infamous Comuna 13 neighborhood and see its incredible transformation. Previously one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in Colombia, Comuna 13 is now safe for tourists, and the locals can’t wait to show you around.

Learn about the history of this neighborhood and how important it is to the city of Medellin.

Comuna 13 exemplifies how a crime-ridden neighborhood can become a cultural hub, boasting murals, graffiti art, hip-hop music, and breakdancing.

Ride the neighborhood escalators and hear how proud the people are to be the only neighborhood in the Americas with public transportation of this type.

After two unforgettable weeks in Medellin, we close out the program with one last group meal on Saturday. Head for dinner at one of El Poblado's most delicious restaurants and then enjoy a final night on the town.

Day 16: Adios Colombia

We hope you enjoyed this incredible city while seeing some gems outside Medellin in the countryside.

Life as a remote worker can be challenging, but with a built-in community and epic adventures, we hope we've helped you maximize your time in Medellin.

You are free to leave anytime today. Coordinate your private airport transportation with your Digital Nomad Trips Community Manager.
